We start off by learning about your business (customers, revenues, sale targets, competition) and your people (how you operate internally and in the marketplace). We also make sure we fully understand the issue on the table and check to see if there are any other issues lurking in the corner. Then we ask the big questions: What business problems (or opportunities) can we affect through design? Is it worth the investment? How will success be measured?

Research ("Thinking Small")
Next we identify the parties affected by the design. We take a closer look at each group's needs from the perspective of an individual, rather than relying on demographic figures, executive memos or inconclusive site metric data. We ask: What do they do everyday? What do they care about? Where are they succeeding and more importantly, where are they getting stuck?
To ensure we're on the right rack, we'll sketch out designs on paper (or even code a rough prototype) to get quick, reliable feedback from customers and employees. Our quick, yet practical analysis should confirm the strategic direction and verify whatever we build is meaningful, useful and usable.

Design ("Thinking Simple")
It's time to boil everything down to the essentials. We'll specify, diagram and detail each and every step of the application that will enable good experience. We'll communicate our designs through easy-to-read documentation and we'll spend as much time required discussing these designs in person with all teams involved.
